Padar tray
Padar is a decorative tray made of petrified wood, a process that takes millions of years. Several factors must coincide to create this material. First, the piece of wood must be covered by clay or volcanic ash, which prevents oxygen from reaching it. Then, the wood must be permeated with water carrying minerals that gradually replace the original biomass with microscopic particles of quartz. Eventually, the woodwork consists of chalcedony, or microcrystalline quartz throughout. This slow shaping by nature gives each individual material its unique characteristics. The trays' final shape is handcrafted.
